Who We Are

The Association of Qualified Legal Representatives (AQLR) is an independent professional membership association. It exists to support, represent and promote Qualified Legal Representatives (QLRs) and other legal professionals undertaking statutory QLR work. AQLR is not a regulator, licensing authority or disciplinary body, and membership does not constitute regulatory accreditation or endorsement. Members remain subject to the professional obligations of their own regulators.

We support qualified legal representatives appointed under statutory provisions to conduct the cross-examination of vulnerable witnesses where a party is prohibited from doing so in person.

We promote excellence in advocacy, champion fairness, support improvements to the justice system, and uphold the highest professional standards in the delivery of legal representation.

Membership is open to suitably qualified legal professionals who undertake, or have an interest in undertaking, Qualified Legal Representative appointments under the relevant statutory schemes, including solicitors, barristers, Chartered Legal Executives and other authorised advocates where eligible.

Professional Standards

AQLR promotes the highest standards of advocacy, ethics and professionalism among its members. Members are expected to comply with the AQLR Code of Conduct while continuing to observe the rules and standards imposed by their own professional regulator.

Membership Directory

AQLR may publish a directory of members to assist courts, practitioners and the public in identifying members undertaking QLR work. Information published is supplied by members, who are responsible for ensuring that it is accurate and up to date. Publication does not imply endorsement by AQLR or by any regulator.
