Invitation to Join the AQLR Management Committee

On behalf of the Association of Qualified Legal Representatives (AQLR), I am delighted to invite you to join the AQLR Management Committee. Your professional experience and commitment to the Qualified Legal Representative (QLR) Scheme make you an ideal candidate to contribute to our work in shaping policy, strengthening professional standards, and promoting the effective representation of vulnerable witnesses and parties within the Family Court system.

Purpose of the Committee

The Management Committee provides strategic leadership, governance, and operational oversight of the Association. Its core functions include:

Supporting the implementation and evolution of the QLR Scheme in line with judicial guidance and public policy;
Advising on training standards, accreditation criteria, and codes of conduct for QLRs;
Representing AQLR members’ interests in engagement with the judiciary, HMCTS, and professional bodies;
Promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity within AQLR operations; and
Advancing best practice and professional development across the QLR community.

Role and Expectations

As a Committee Member, you would be expected to:

Attend Management Committee meetings (typically held quarterly, either virtually or in person);
Contribute to sub-committees or working groups aligned with your area of expertise (e.g. Training, Ethics, Policy, Membership);
Assist in the preparation of consultation responses and internal policy documents;
Act as an ambassador for the AQLR in your professional and regional networks; and
Uphold the values of independence, integrity, and public service central to the QLR role.

This is a voluntary, non-remunerated position, though reasonable expenses for authorised activities may be reimbursed in accordance with AQLR policy.
